Encrypt folders and files in Windows-deftincomputer
Encrypt folders and files in Windows and prevent other users from accessing them
Many PC users simply hide the folder containing their personal files to prevent others from accessing them. This solution may be sufficient for the short term and for beginner purposes, but it is not recommended and we will teach you how to encrypt folders with the help of Windows and without installing anything extra in Windows.
Use the Windows Encryption feature:
Unfortunately, Windows does not provide the user with a tool for encrypting folders by default. However, it is possible to prevent other users from accessing the contents of files and folders by using the Encrypt feature, or the same folder encryption in Windows. All you have to do is follow these steps in Windows 7, 8 or 10:
1.Navigate to the folder of the file you want to encrypt.
2.Right-click on the item.
3.Click Properties, then click the Advanced button.
4.Then in the advanced attribute window in the second row, check the encrypt contents to secure data option.
5.Click OK and then click Apply.
Windows then asks you if you want to encrypt only the original file or folder and all the files in it. We recommend that you select full folder encryption.
Now, after going to the encrypted folder, you will see a small yellow lock on the file icon. It also automatically encrypts when you add new content to that folder.
After performing the folder encryption operation, your files will be accessible through your account, and if someone accesses your computer unauthorizedly, encryption is practically useless. This is why creating a strong password is so important to log in.
